paragraph

The SEC issued a press release announcing a March 19, 2007 roundtable on the use of interactive data (XBRL) to enhance investor disclosure. Panelists included senior executives and auditors from major corporations such as General Electric, Ford Motor Credit, Pfizer, and KPMG, discussing the benefits and cost savings of adopting XBRL for financial reporting. No allegations of fraud, financial penalties, or enforcement actions were mentioned—only a focus on voluntary compliance and transparency.

narrative

The Securities and Exchange Commission issued a press release on March 15, 2007, announcing a public roundtable on March 19 to explore the use of interactive data in financial disclosures via XBRL. The event featured panelists from leading corporations including General Electric, Ford Motor Credit, Pfizer, Dow Chemical, Comcast, and Altria, alongside auditors from KPMG and XBRL US, Inc. Speakers such as John J. Brennan of Vanguard and John W. White of the SEC’s Division of Corporation Finance discussed how XBRL could improve accessibility and comparability of financial data for investors. The roundtable was explicitly framed as an informational forum to promote voluntary adoption of the technology, not as an enforcement proceeding. No allegations of fraud, misconduct, or financial penalties were raised in the document. Materials and webcasts were made publicly accessible, and the SEC invited public feedback to be included in the official record. The entire initiative was part of a broader effort to modernize financial reporting and increase transparency without any legal or regulatory action against individuals or firms.
